It has taken Leisa and her family 15 different houses to find their forever home in the Scobie Release at Zuccoli Village, Darwin.

The special aide assistant, her husband Nathan, and their teenage kids have lived in Darwin for over a decade calling Zuccoli home for the last three and a half years but finding their forever home has not been an easy feat.

Having lived in places across Australia, it has taken 11 rental properties, plus the purchase of four existing homes and one home they built, to finally build their dream home.

The family purchased a 631m2 block for $256,000 and expect to pay an additional $400,000 for the house build with construction projected to commence early 2022.

“When we first started looking for our forever home, we looked into purchasing an existing home around the $550,000 mark, however eight months down the track, these same homes were then sitting around $650,000,” Leisa said.

“Having lived in so many different houses, we knew if we bought something that already existed, we’d end up having to change a lot. So, building new really was the best option for our family and lifestyle.”

For Leisa and Nathan, the additional benefit of building new was tailoring their design with niches and nooks to suit the family’s needs, such as the addition of a large kitchen benchtop and a butler’s pantry for Leisa who loves to cook.

“We cannot wait to finally move into our forever home, it’s in the perfect location at the end of a culde-sac with no houses opposite us and plenty of street space,” Leisa said.

“Our kids are also very excited as they’ve enjoyed designing their own bedrooms and we’re also planning to build their very own wing within the house.”

“After many years of living in homes that never truly felt like ours, the stars seemed to align for us. Our most recent property in Perth finally sold and settled on Friday June 25, and the very next day we were offered the lot in Zuccoli Village by Urbex Realty.”

Nicole Turner, the Urbex Realty sales consultant who helped Leisa and Nathan find their dream homesite, said that Zuccoli Village has been extremely popular due to the larger lots they have on offer and the considered design of the streetscapes and surrounding areas.
